Description
Ming Dynasty – Royal Ming – If you can’t have the whole Ming Vase, you should have at least this shard of one!
During China’s Ming Dynasty (c 1368 – 1644), its people enjoyed a luxurious lifestyle filled with great literature and art. Their deeply revered hand-painted white porcelain objects were found only in the homes of their wealthiest people.
Chinese archeologists recently unearthed a Ming Vase factory and salvaged as much of the precious (even when broken!) porcelain they could. I was able to obtain a small quantity, just so that you can wear a piece of the world’s wealthiest history around your neck!
The porcelain shard is wrapped in Sterling Silver.
Authentic Ming Dynasty Porcelain Shard from my Ming Dynasty Collection.
Notice the large statement bead just above the porcelain shard – it’s a handmade Chinese porcelain bead in the “Ginger Jar Cloisonne” pattern, a popular classic Chinese motif. (It is not actual cloisonne.)
I’ve also used other handmade blue and white porcelain beads, along with authentic Bohemian pressed glass beads in royal blue and deep red, accenting the pretty petite red flower on the Ming Dynasty shard.
Red and blue authentic Bohemian handmade pressed glass beads are created by artisans by taking heated glass and pressing it into a mold.
I decided to call this piece “Royal Ming” because of the royal blue predominant in this shard, along with the blue and white porcelain beads and the royal blue Bohemian beads.
Ming Dynasty – Royal Ming is a 16″ necklace with matching earrings, handmade by Gail from an authentic Ming Dynasty antique porcelain shard, blue and white handmade Chinese porcelain beads, including a large statement “Ginger Jar Cloisonne” bead, and red and blue Bohemian Glass.
