Description
Gem of the Sea 1 – I hope you can see in the photos the delicate little pink roses lamp-worked onto each of these red beads. The transparent Indian Glass beads are swirled with a bit of translucent red, and 22 carat gold dust! I wish that my photography skills were good enough to capture that gold dust for you, but you’ll easily see it when you open the box containing this delightful necklace.
Lamp-work beads are handmade and are formed by heating glass with a blowtorch and then working it into the artist’s desired bead shapes. Pink and white roses are added to these red beads by touching the base bead with pink and white melted glass and twisting it slightly to form a rose.
The colors and styles of lamp-work beads can vary widely, according to the artist making them, but the signature look of a lamp-work bead is usually glossy and ornate.
Mother of Pearl, which is actually Nacre, is produced by some mollusks as an inner shell layer. It’s also the material of which pearls are composed, and is strong, resilient, and appears to glow from within.
In metaphysics, Mother of Pearl shell is commonly believed to attract prosperity and heighten intuition and imagination, and offers protection from negative energy.
