Fragile Funky – yes, this is an unusual name for a necklace set! I loved the juxtaposition of the fragile appearance of the aqua/sky blue cats-eye chips and the strength of the hematite ovals, and once I saw the necklace complete, the name just seemed right. After all, we are each a combination of various dissimilar factors, aren’t we?
In metaphysics and Feng Shui, hematite is said to ground and protect us. It strengthens our connection with the earth, making us feel safe and secure, in addition to many other great benefits.
Cats-eye was a very popular stone for engagement rings in Victorian times, when it was known as Chrysolite. In Metaphysics, this stone is reputed to bring wealth and prosperity and to help regain lost wealth. These Cats-eye chips are not natural, but are manufactured by fusing quartz fibers together in order to create the chatoyancy effect of a band of light through it. They are also called fiber-optic beads.
